Adverb

副詞についてもまとめておく。

副詞は名詞以外はなんでも修飾することができ、文章に「時、場所、状態」などの意味付け加える。(形容詞、数詞動名詞不定詞も修飾できる)

 Due to the opening of our overseas outlets, sales are expected to increase by approximately ten percent next year.

 

動詞を修飾する場合の副詞の位置>

 文頭、文中 ( 動詞の前後 )、文尾 に置く。但し、動詞と目的語 (補語)の間に置くことはできない。

 Once the seminar had nearly ended, some of the participants started leaving the room.

The planning depaertment was not directy affected by budget rivisions.

■時を表す

  • first 最初に 例) I met you first. まず最初、あなたに会った

■場所を表す

  • at the restaurant

■様態を表す

  • fast
  • well

<優先順位>

様態→場所→時間→曜日
例)I was running in the park at seven in the evening on Wednesday.
例)She played the piano well at school yesterday.

小→大
例)at restaurant in Tokyo.
例)at 9 o’clock tomorrow.

  • near 近く nearly   ほとんど(≒almost)
  • close 接近して closely  綿密に
  • hard 一生懸命に hardly   ほとんど~ない
  • late   遅く   lately 最近
